Are you passionate about making a real difference in cancer research? We’re looking for a Research Scientist to join our Oncology In Vivo team in Loughborough. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a highly motivated and forward-thinking environment, where your expertise will directly contribute to vital scientific discoveries.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Carrying out clinical observations to monitor animal health and welfare, ensuring early detection of any issues.
- Supporting the daily welfare checks and care of animals, in line with strict ethical and regulatory guidelines.
- Generating high-quality data and reports to support research projects.
- Training and mentoring colleagues on experimental procedures to maintain best practices.
- Maintaining a clean, sterile working environment and ensuring high standards of facility management.
- Reviewing and updating processes to improve efficiency and maintain compliance.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience in animal handling, dosing, sampling, and surgical techniques (such as anaesthesia, suturing, and PDX models).
- Strong understanding of welfare assessment and clinical signs recording.
- Familiarity with the Home Office Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986.
- Confident using MS Office Suite and laboratory management systems like LIMS/Study Log.
- Someone with great attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work independently.
- A flexible approach to work, including some weekend and out-of-hours availability.
