Role Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Vice President – Business Development to lead Intellect’s efforts in driving sales and strategic partnerships with Building Societies in the UK. This role requires a strong fintech sales leader with deep market insights, excellent relationship management skills, and a proven track record of selling enterprise‑grade solutions to regulated financial institutions.
You will be responsible for defining and executing regional sales strategies, identifying opportunities within Building Societies, engaging senior stakeholders, influencing decision‑making cycles, and closing high‑value deals that align with Intellect’s business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Sales & Market Penetration
- Develop and execute a targeted sales strategy for Intellect’s product portfolio (e.g., digital core banking, transaction banking, risk & compliance, wealth, payments and AI‑driven platforms) within the UK Building Society sector.
- Identify high‑value business opportunities and build a robust pipeline through market mapping, competitive analysis, and customer insights.
- Lead consultative sales cycles, evolving from discovery to proposal, negotiation and closure with senior executives (C‑suite, CTOs, Heads of Operations).
- Collaborate with Intellect’s leadership to set annual sales targets, forecasts, and revenue plans for the segment.
- Client Relationship & Partnership Building
- Develop deep relationships with key stakeholders in Building Societies, including Board Members, CIOs, Heads of Digital, and transformation sponsors.
- Act as a trusted advisor, understanding client business priorities, regulatory challenges, and helping shape tailored value propositions.
- Influence long‑term engagements and grow multi‑product wallet share across existing and prospective client.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Pre‑Sales, Product, Marketing and Delivery teams to develop compelling proposals, pitch decks, and proof‑of‑value engagements.
- Provide market feedback to product teams to help shape product enhancements that address sector‑specific needs (e.g., UK regulation, open banking, digital customer journeys).
- Represent Intellect at industry events, roundtables, conferences and with key fintech and banking associations.
- Thought Leadership & Brand Positioning
- Build and publish industry insights, white papers, case studies tailored to the Building Society audience.
- Position Intellect as a preferred technology partner by speaking at customer forums, webinars, and sector events.
- Maintain accurate CRM and sales performance metrics, ensuring timely reporting to senior leadership.
- Mentor and support more junior sales professionals, fostering a high‑performance sales culture.
Qualifications & Experience
- 12+ years of senior enterprise sales / business development experience in fintech or enterprise software, with a strong track record of selling to regulated financial institutions (preferably retail banks or building societies).
- Proven experience in the UK financial services landscape, understanding the strategic priorities and procurement processes of Building Societies.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills with the ability to influence at executive levels.
- Demonstrated experience in complex sales cycles, from lead generation to contract closure.
- Excellent communication, presentation and commercial acumen.
- Prior exposure to digital transformation projects in banking.
- Knowledge of core banking, digital channels, payments, risk & compliance or AI‑driven platforms.
- Existing network within UK Building Societies or relevant banking sector.
