We are seeking an organised and detail-oriented Document Controller to support the successful delivery of two major engineering projects based in Billingham and Darlington.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all project documentation, ensuring documents are accurately controlled, distributed and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.

Working closely with project managers, engineers, clients and subcontractors, you will play a key role in ensuring documentation is readily available, compliant and up to date.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain all project documentation in line with company procedures and client requirements.
  • Control the receipt, distribution, revision and archiving of engineering drawings, technical documents, reports and correspondence.
  • Ensure all documentation is correctly named, version controlled and stored within the company’s document management systems.
  • Maintain document registers and trackers to ensure all information remains accurate and up to date.
  • Issue controlled documents to internal teams, clients and subcontractors, ensuring the latest revisions are always available.
  • Monitor outstanding document submissions and chase internal teams and external parties where required.
  • Support project teams by preparing document transmittals and maintaining accurate audit trails.
  • Ensure documentation complies with quality management systems, project specifications and contractual requirements.
  • Assist with the preparation of handover documentation, operation and maintenance manuals and final project records.
  • Attend project meetings where required and provide updates on document status.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers and site teams to ensure efficient document flow throughout each project.
  • Maintain confidentiality of commercially sensitive and client information at all times.
  • Identify opportunities to improve document control processes and administrative efficiencies.

  • We are looking for someone with the following experience and qualifications:

Essential

  • Previous experience in a Document Controller, Project Administrator or Technical Administrator role.
  • Excellent organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong administrative and document management experience within an engineering, construction or manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between Billingham and Darlington.

Desirable

  • Experience working on large engineering, construction or industrial projects.
  • Knowledge of document control procedures and ISO 9001 quality management systems.
  • Understanding of engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Working Hours
  • Full time – 37.5 hours per week, with overtime available, Mon-Thrs (08:00-16:30) & Fri (08:00-13:30)
