Intelance is a specialist consultancy in Enterprise Architecture, Cybersecurity, and AI. We are building a lean, senior team to stand up a new Enterprise Architecture function for a major engineering and project-delivery group in North Africa. We are looking for an experienced Solution Architect to design end-to-end solutions for key initiatives, align them with the target architecture, and produce clear HLA/HLD artefacts that delivery teams can actually implement.
Tasks
- Work with the Senior Enterprise Architect, Business Architects, and domain SMEs (Data, Security, Integration) to design end-to-end solutions for priority projects.
- Produce clear, pragmatic High Level Architectures (HLA) and High Level Designs (HLD) that describe how applications, integrations, data flows, and security controls fit together.
- Ensure all solution designs align with architecture principles, patterns, and guardrails agreed in the EA operating model.
- Participate in and support the Architecture Review Board (ARB) and working groups, presenting solutions and addressing feedback.
- Collaborate with Business stakeholders to translate requirements and constraints into simple, viable solution options with trade-offs.
- Work closely with Data and Integration Architects on interfaces, APIs, data flows, and non-functional requirements (availability, performance, resilience, monitoring).
- Provide technical guidance to project teams during design and early implementation phases, ensuring designs remain consistent with the agreed HLD.
- Contribute to the EA repository with reusable patterns, reference designs, and lessons learned from pilot projects.
- Support 1-2 pilot projects going end-to-end through the new EA workflow during the first phase of the engagement.
- Help refine Intelance's internal solution architecture templates and methods based on what works in practice.
Requirements
- 7+ years' experience as a Solution Architect in complex, multi-system environments.
- Proven track record designing solutions that span applications, integrations, and data, not just a single product or module.
- Comfortable producing HLA/HLD with standard notations (C4, UML, sequence diagrams, context/container diagrams) and keeping them at the right level of detail.
- Experience working in project-driven industries (engineering, construction, energy, utilities, manufacturing, or similar) or other environments with large, complex projects and programmes.
- Strong understanding of non-functional requirements (availability, scale, performance, security, supportability) and how they impact design.
- Able to work with both business and technical stakeholders, explaining solution options in clear, non-jargon language.
- Excellent communication skills in English and comfortable working in a hybrid model (remote plus occasional on-site visits to Casablanca and/or London).
Nice to have
- Experience with one or more major enterprise platforms, for example: Microsoft 365 / Azure, SAP, Dynamics 365, project portfolio / ERP tools, or similar.
- Exposure to cloud-native architectures (APIs, microservices, event-driven designs).
- Experience working within architecture governance structures (ARB, design authority).
- French language skills and/or experience with Francophone or North African clients.
- Prior consulting experience in a client-facing role.
Benefits
- Key role in shaping real solutions for a major engineering and project-delivery group as they formalise their Enterprise Architecture capability.
- Work in a small, senior team that values practical, implementable designs – not endless PowerPoint.
- Hybrid working model – remote by default, with targeted on-site trips for high-impact workshops and reviews.
- Exposure to Intelance's broader EA, Cybersecurity, and AI work, with the chance to influence how solution architecture fits across multiple clients.
- Competitive compensation with options for freelance / Ltd company engagement or longer-term collaboration.
- Direct access to Intelance leadership and the opportunity to help refine our solution architecture patterns and accelerators.
