Intelance is an independent enterprise architecture, technology and cybersecurity advisory firm. We have been appointed to lead a board level, independent technology and data review for a large UK omnichannel retailer. We are building a senior expert team for an intensive eight-week diagnostic, running from early July. We need a finance systems and FP&A specialist who knows enterprise planning platforms such as OneStream, and can judge whether the retailer's planning, consolidation and reporting are robust enough to support a private equity backed growth plan.
Tasks
- Support an Intelance led independent technology audit.
- Review the current finance planning systems and FP&A process.
- Assess OneStream or equivalent EPM platform requirements, status, adoption and gaps.
- Review how P&L, balance sheet, cash flow and working capital planning are handled.
- Assess whether finance planning is properly linked to trading, supply chain, stock, margin and store/channel plans.
- Review driver based planning, forecasting cycles, scenario planning and cash visibility.
- Identify where spreadsheets, manual workarounds or weak data are affecting finance planning.
- Assess whether leaders can trust the finance data used for planning and reporting.
- Review finance master data, planning data, reporting data and links to wider business systems.
- Help judge what should be kept, fixed, bought, replaced, retired or simplified.
- Work with specialists across enterprise architecture, supply chain technology, data, engineering, cyber and technology cost.
- Turn finance systems findings into clear, plain English messages for senior leaders.
- Support the creation of a finance planning diagnostic, heatmap, roadmap and Board ready report.
Requirements
- Strong finance systems and FP&A technology experience.
- Experience with OneStream, Anaplan, Oracle EPM, SAP Analytics Cloud, Workday Adaptive Planning, Board, Tagetik, Planful or similar enterprise planning tools.
- Strong understanding of FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, working capital and management reporting.
- Experience reviewing finance planning systems, not only using them as a finance user.
- Good understanding of how finance planning links to trading, supply chain, inventory, margin, sales and operational plans.
- Ability to identify where poor data, weak process, manual spreadsheets or low adoption are affecting finance decisions.
- Ability to assess whether an EPM or planning tool is properly implemented and used.
- Ability to explain finance systems issues in simple language to senior non-technical leaders.
- Strong commercial judgement.
- Ability to link finance systems issues to cash, margin, working capital, cost, reporting quality and decision speed.
- Availability to support proposal activity immediately, with potential delivery work over an eight week audit period.
Benefits
- Short-term, high impact advisory work.
- Potential involvement in a Board-level technology audit for a major UK business.
- Flexible day rate associate model.
- Clear role boundaries and defined finance systems scope.
- Opportunity to work with a senior team across enterprise architecture, engineering, cyber, data, AI, supply chain technology and technology cost review.
- Work that focuses on real business decisions, clear evidence and practical next steps.
