They are seeking an experienced and visionary senior education leader to join the Education Senior Leadership Team as Director of Colleges (Specialist Further Education Provision), providing strategic leadership across a growing group of six specialist college sites. This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious leader to influence the lives of hundreds of young people and adults, lead a team of Principals, and shape an ambitious further education strategy focused on delivering outstanding outcomes, exceptional learner experiences, and sector-leading specialist practice.

This will be a remote role, due to the multi-site leadership position requiring regular travel across six college locations. Flexibility is essential, including occasional early morning, evening, and off-site meetings.
The Role
- Provide strategic direction, leadership, and oversight across the organisation’s specialist college provision, ensuring consistently high standards of education, quality, and learner outcomes.
- Working closely with the wider Executive and Education Senior Leadership Teams, including Directors across Schools, Safeguarding, and Care, the successful candidate will ensure a seamless learner journey from school into further education, creating meaningful pathways that support preparation for adulthood, employment, independence, and lifelong success.
- This is a high-impact leadership role requiring a balance of strategic vision, operational excellence, and the ability to inspire and develop senior leaders across multiple sites.
- Develop and deliver an ambitious strategic vision for specialist college provision across six sites.
- Provide inspirational leadership, support, and challenge to College Principals and senior leaders.
- Drive excellence in teaching, learning, assessment, and learner outcomes.
- Lead quality assurance, self-assessment, and continuous improvement across all colleges.
- Ensure strong preparation for Ofsted inspections and compliance with regulatory expectations.
- Build leadership capacity, succession planning, and a culture of collaboration and high performance.
- Develop strong partnerships with Local Authorities, employers, commissioners, and external stakeholders.
About the Candidate
- The successful candidate will be an accomplished senior education leader with significant experience within further education, specialist education, or a complex multi-site learning environment.
- You will have a proven track record of improving educational standards, leading successful improvement strategies, and delivering positive outcomes for learners.
- Significant senior leadership experience within further education or specialist education.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework.
- Experience leading quality improvement and driving measurable improvements in outcomes.
- Strategic thinking combined with strong operational leadership capability.
- Experience managing and developing senior leaders across complex organisations.
- Excellent influencing, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A strong commitment to inclusion, learner achievement, and educational excellence.
Qualifications required:
- PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
- NASENCo qualification (Desirable).
- NPQH or equivalent leadership qualification (Desirable).
Salary: £80,000 - £85,000
