Are you an experienced engineering leader with a passion for delivering complex projects safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards? We’re looking for a Works Delivery Manager to lead the in‑house delivery of electrical, mechanical, and chemical dosing engineering projects across the UK. This is a key leadership role where you’ll drive performance, safety, and innovation across a diverse portfolio of works.

As Works Delivery Manager, you’ll take ownership of end‑to‑end project delivery—ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and fully compliant with regulatory and safety standards. You’ll lead multidisciplinary teams across mechanical, electrical, chemical dosing, and pump operations, working closely with senior stakeholders and playing an active role within the senior management team.

The Role

  • Project Delivery
    • Lead the delivery of engineering projects including maintenance, upgrades, and installations
    • Develop delivery plans, schedules, and resource strategies
    • Monitor progress and drive performance against key milestones
    • Oversee commissioning and ensure smooth project handovers
  • Safety, Compliance & Quality
    • Champion a strong safety culture across all sites
    • Ensure compliance with regulations including CDM, PUWER, and Electricity at Work Regulations
    • Review and approve risk assessments, method statements, and technical designs
    • Drive quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle
  • Supplier & Contract Management
    • Manage contractors and supply chain partners to ensure performance and value
    • Support procurement, tender evaluations, and framework delivery
    • Build strong supplier relationships to support continuous improvement
  • Financial & Risk Management
    • Manage budgets, forecasts, and cost control
    • Identify and mitigate risks across project delivery
    • Support business cases and investment decisions
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Promote best practice and innovation across engineering delivery
    • Champion digital tools and data‑driven decision making
    • Identify growth opportunities across frameworks and clients

What you’ll need

  • Essential
    • HNC/HND in Engineering (or equivalent)
    • Proven experience delivering mechanical and/or electrical projects in the UK
    • Strong understanding of project delivery in regulated or safety‑critical environments
    • Experience managing contractors and multidisciplinary teams
    • Knowledge of CDM, risk, cost, and programme management
    • Strong leadership and communication skills
    • Commercial awareness and financial control experience
    • Ability to manage multiple projects under pressure
    • Proactive, innovative, and results‑driven mindset
  • Desirable
    • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or similar)
    • IOSH or NEBOSH qualification
    • Membership of a professional body (e.g. IET, IMechE, CIBSE)
    • Experience within the water or utilities sector
