We are currently seeking a talented Graduate Structural Engineer to join our well-established Civil, Structural and Architectural (CSA) team at our offices in either Birmingham or Manchester, UK.
As a Graduate Structural Engineer at IPS, you will work closely with senior engineers and project teams on a variety of assignments as assigned by a Project Manager or CSA Team Leader. You will collaborate within a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment, gaining exposure to pharmaceutical and life sciences projects while developing your technical and professional skills. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design of structural systems in accordance with relevant codes and standards using appropriate software tools.
- Support the delivery of projects on time, within scope, and to budget.
- Work under the supervision of Project Engineers and the Design Team Leader to deliver high-quality design solutions.
- Participate in design reviews, verification checks, and quality assurance processes.
- Conduct site visits, inspections, and surveys as required.
- Attend project and construction meetings both in-office and on-site.
- Liaise and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including Architects, Project Managers, and M&E Engineers.
- Contribute to concept, scheme, and detailed design stages of projects.
- Engage in STEM outreach and professional development activities.
- Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including global pharmaceutical clients.
- Develop improved communication and teamwork skills through collaboration on projects.
- Manage personal workload effectively to meet deadlines and maintain high standards of delivery.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- A strong commitment to achieving professional qualifications (e.g., Chartered Engineer status).
- Willingness to broaden knowledge across other engineering disciplines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on collaboration and inclusivity.
- Familiarity with engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla, or similar) is preferred but not essential.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to learning and development.
- Minimum Requirements: A 2:1 or higher Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
