Southwest Pathology Services (SPS) in Somerset has an exciting opportunity for a band 7 Team Manager who wants to lead the Haematology section in our Hub laboratory. We are seeking an individual who is dedicated to providing a high-quality patient centric service and is enthusiastic about mentoring and sharing their knowledge.
Main duties of the job
- Lead and supervise the BMS Haematology department as part of the Blood Sciences management team.
- Ensure delivery of the 24/7 service and maintain UKAS accreditation for the Haematology and Coagulation section.
- Responsible for line management, supervision and training of the Biomedical Scientist team at SPS.
- Manage and deploy staff efficiently to ensure priorities are met.
- Participate in the recruitment of Biomedical Scientists and manage the onboarding of new staff.
- Formulate reports for the Operational Management Team and other key stakeholders.
- Oversee the direct Team on a day-to-day basis and deal with complex equipment and technical failures.
- Interpret and validate analytical results, referring abnormalities to the appropriate clinician.
- Maintain constructive working relationships across all levels.
- Contribute to service development through participation in research and change control procedures.
- Support the Business planning and performance activity of the department.
- Be actively engaged in the completion of error log reports and quality assurance.
Qualifications
- HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist, with post registration experience working in Haematology.
- MSc in Haematology or Biomedical Sciences; or FIBMS by examination; or equivalent experience.
- Management Qualification to ILM level 3; or commitment to work towards; or equivalent experience.
