We are recruiting a Therapist Assistant to join our team!
Southern Hill Hospital is preparing to open a new specialist Addiction Treatment Service for adults aged 18 and over, providing high-quality, person-centred support for individuals affected by substance misuse and co-occurring mental health needs.
Our new service is being developed to offer compassionate, evidence-based care within a safe and therapeutic environment where individuals can begin rebuilding stability, confidence, and independence.
Duties
- Assist licensed occupational therapists in implementing therapy programmes tailored to individual patient needs
- Support patients during therapy sessions, encouraging participation and engagement
- Prepare therapy materials and equipment required for sessions
- Monitor patient progress and report observations to the supervising therapist
- Maintain accurate documentation of therapy activities and patient responses
- Support patients with daily activities, promoting independence and confidence
- Contribute to the organisation of therapy schedules and appointments
- Uphold health and safety standards within the clinical environment
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members to ensure cohesive care delivery
Qualifications
- Relevant qualification as an Occupational Therapist Assistant or equivalent recognised training programme
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with patients of all ages and backgrounds
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken
- Basic IT skills for maintaining accurate records and documentation
- Experience or interest in teaching or guiding patients through therapeutic exercises is advantageous
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Compassionate approach with excellent organisational skills
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to healthcare regulations
