About Us
At IES, we value People, Purpose and Innovation. We offer a flexible and supportive working environment and the opportunity to work with a team of friendly, interesting and diverse people from across the globe who are passionate about what we do. For over 30 years, we have built a solid reputation as the leading global innovator in integrated performance-based analysis and are now home to the most advanced building physics analytics team in the world. Our software solutions and expert consultancy services empower designers, engineers, building owners and operators to deliver more efficient, resilient and sustainable buildings through design, retrofit and operation.
The Role
We are seeking a commercially minded, relationship-driven Business Development Manager to spearhead IES’s growth within the Data Centre sector, while also identifying and developing opportunities across our wider strategic consulting services. The data centre market is at a pivotal moment, driven by explosive demand for AI-ready infrastructure, grid constraints across major economies, and increasing pressure to balance power availability with sustainability. IES is uniquely positioned to help solve this challenge through predictive operational modelling delivered across our software and consultancy solutions. This role sits at the intersection of technical excellence and client need. You will be responsible for securing new project orders for our specialist data centre consultancy services, while pulling through broader strategic consulting offerings across the building lifecycle. You will be at the forefront of engaging with leading technical and engineering organisations, helping them navigate the critical challenge of power versus sustainability through data-led insight and modelling expertise.
What You’ll Do
- Drive market growth within the Data Centre sector by promoting IES’ consulting expertise to hyperscalers, enterprise owners, colocation providers, investors, OEMs, infrastructure providers, facilities managers, and engineering and consulting firms
- Identify, qualify and secure new project orders to meet and exceed annual growth targets
- Manage the full sales lifecycle, acting as the primary point of contact from initial enquiry through to project award
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities, ensuring accurate forecasting and commercial discipline
- Identify opportunities to cross-sell IES’ wider strategic consulting services alongside core data centre engagements
- Work with clients to understand long-term roadmaps, positioning IES as a trusted, long-term partner rather than a one-off vendor
- Collaborate closely with internal technical consultants to support successful project delivery, ensuring commercial alignment and clear communication
- Act as a commercial liaison during project delivery, resolving any commercial or communication bottlenecks as they arise
- Partner with the marketing team to develop sector-specific collateral, case studies and thought‑leadership tailored to the data centre industry
- Represent IES at UK-wide industry events, conferences and networking forums, strengthening brand presence and market credibility
Skills & Experience
- Strong understanding of the Data Centre landscape, including MEP requirements, power constraints, planning considerations and sustainability drivers
- Proven experience building and converting a pipeline of project‑based opportunities within a professional services, consultancy or technical sales environment
- Ability to engage credibly with both C‑suite stakeholders and technical engineering teams
- Commercially astute, with experience owning revenue targets and driving growth through consultative selling
- Confident translating technical and energy modelling outputs into compelling commercial narratives that secure senior stakeholder buy‑in
- Comfortable working in a hybrid role with regular UK‑wide travel
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of energy modelling software and its application within data centres and the wider construction or built environment sector
- Experience working with or selling into hyperscalers, colocation providers, engineering consultancies or infrastructure‑led organisations
- Exposure to sustainability, decarbonisation or performance‑led building solutions
Why Join Us
- Be part of a business solving one of the most critical challenges facing global digital infrastructure
- Work at the forefront of data centre sustainability and performance‑led decision‑making
- Collaborate with world‑class technical experts across software, engineering and consultancy
- High‑impact, growth‑focused role with strong autonomy and visibility
- Values‑driven, mission‑led organisation with global impact
- Competitive salary, benefits and flexible working
