A new opportunity has arisen for a Workflow co-ordinator / Coder to join our friendly village practice in Cambridgeshire. You will be joining an experienced friendly team , who are dedicated to ensuring our patients have the best possible experience when visiting the surgery.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for dealing with a wide range of clinical data and administrative duties, including reviewing, summarising and coding patient information from medical correspondence and clinical documents. You must have experience of working with SystmOne, be detail orientated, have a good knowledge of medical terminology and strong organisations skills.

We are seeking someone who has good teamwork, a patient focussed outlook and high attention to detail.

About us

We are a well established surgery that has been part of the village for the last 40 years. Our staff are experienced, friendly and willing to help where they can. We have 4 partners, 3 salaried, 2 nurses, 3 HCA\’s and 6 in the admin team, along with a Practice Manager, and Deputy Practice Manager. We are a teaching practice with currently 2 registrars. We also have our own dispensary with 3 dispensers and 1 dispensary manager. We work flexibly, provide an NHS pension, and have a closure afternoon once a month for training.

Job responsibilities

Thefollowing are the core responsibilities of the clinical coder. There may beon occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependentupon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

a.Review all incoming correspondence filing the documentand entering pertinent information into the patients electronic medical recording in accordancewith the Coding Protocol and with attention to QOF

b.Accurately clinical-coding data on System One into thepatient record

c.Organise the medical record of patient whom you arecoding, to link problem titles

d.Input and extract data as required to support practicereports

e.Organise the medical records of a patient whom you arecoding for to link problem titles.

f.File and store records as required

g.Photocopy documentation as required

h.Action all incoming faxes, emails and mail in a timelymanner

i.Scanning of patient related documentation and attachingscanned documents to patients healthcare records

j.Carry out system searches as requested

k.Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at alltimes

l.Support all clinical staff with general administrativetasks as requested

Inaddition to the primary responsibilities, the clinical coder may be requestedto:

a.Reviewand update the practice coding policy as required (in conjunction with theDeputy Practice Manager)

b.Partakein audit as directed by the audit lead

c.Supportreception staff, providing cover during staff absences where appropriate

Experience

  • Experience in Clinical Coding
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a health care setting
  • Good understanding of Primary care

Qualifications
