Commissioning Team Leader

The closing date is 20 July 2025

This is an exciting role within the All Age Continuing Care (AACC) team which is a busy operational team within Hertfordshire & West Essex ICB. The team works closely with local community providers, Hertfordshire Community Trust, Hertfordshire County Council as well as two providers of acute care; East & North Herts NHS Trust and Princess Alexandra Hospital.

The post-holder will be based primarily at the site located at Park Way, Welwyn Garden City, with the opportunity to also work from home and attend the office when required.

Main duties of the job

The main focus of the role will be to deal with commissioning and procurement issues, administration and sourcing of appropriate placements for patients, to maintain accurate records and support all aspects of work within the Adult Continuing Healthcare team.

The post holder will support the Commissioning Manager and Head of Service to ensure that there is sufficient, good quality Nursing Homes and Homecare Providers to meet the needs of people who are assessed as being eligible for CHC.

The ideal candidate will have experience of procuring placements and packages of care (POC) in either a CHC or Social Care environment and Lead the commissioning team.

Qualifications and Knowledge

  • Educated to NVQ 4 level in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in specialist area
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures, project management or information analysis
  • Previously worked in a similar position within the public sector
  • Team management skills or experience
  • Knowledge of NHS Framework for Children and Young people Continuing Care
  • Basic knowledge of project management principles

Communication Skills

  • Skills for communication on complex information and administrative matters, requiring developed interpersonal and oral/ written communication skills
  • Dealing with complaints
  • Analysing Data

Analytical Skills

  • Problem solving skills and ability to respond to sudden unexpected demands

Team leadership
