The Role: Integrate Engineering Resources is currently recruiting for HSE Managers for a 2 year contract on a major construction near Swansea. The role will involve ensuring the construction phase is completed in compliance with CDM regulations, managing and implementing the site's HSE Management Plan, conducting risk assessments, investigating incidents, overseeing contractor competence, managing site inductions, leading safety meetings, and serving as a key point of contact for all health, safety, and environmental matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Regulatory compliance: Ensure full compliance with all relevant HSE legislation, especially the CDM 2015 regulations, by understanding the roles and responsibilities of all duty holders.
- HSE management plan: Develop, implement, and manage a project-specific HSE Management Plan and ensure the Construction Phase Plan (CPP) is kept up-to-date.
- Risk management: Conduct proactive risk assessments, hazard identification, and regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure robust mitigation measures are in place.
- Contractor oversight: Review the competence of contractors and their method statements (RAMS) and COSHH assessments. Coordinate work activities through permit-to-work systems and site meetings.
- Incident management: Investigate all incidents, near-misses, and unsafe acts, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Training and communication: Develop and deliver site inductions, conduct toolbox talks, and hold regular safety and supervisor meetings. Foster a strong safety culture throughout the site.
- Documentation: Ensure all required documentation and statutory inspections are in place and complete. Produce and update safety and environmental management plans.
- Advisory role: Act as the subject matter expert for CDM and provide guidance to project teams, senior management, and designers on safety best practices and legal obligations.
Requirements
- NEBOSH / IOSH certificates
- A degree in construction or a related field is preferred
- Experience in health, safety, and environmental management on construction projects.
- A comprehensive understanding of the Construction Design and Management Regulations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to review project information and assess risks is crucial for effective decision-making.
- Proficiency in conducting risk assessments, site audits, and incident investigations.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to effectively manage and influence a range of stakeholders.
- Experience in developing and implementing HSE Management Systems and plans.
