We are seeking an experienced Utilities Supervisor to provide short‑term cover on a major HS2 utility diversion project based in Coleshill, Birmingham. The role will involve supervising site activities associated with streetworks and gas utility diversions, ensuring works are delivered safely, compliantly, and in line with programme requirements. This is a hands‑on supervisory position, working closely with site management, subcontractors, and utility providers within a highly regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise day‑to‑day site operations relating to utility diversion works
  • Oversee streetworks activities, ensuring compliance with NRSWA and local authority requirements
  • Manage and coordinate operatives and subcontractors on site
  • Ensure all works comply with HS2 safety, quality and environmental standards
  • Conduct site briefings, toolbox talks and daily activity planning
  • Monitor RAMS and ensure safe systems of work are followed at all times
  • Liaise with gas network representatives and utility stakeholders
  • Maintain site records, permits, and compliance documentation
  • Proactively identify and resolve site issues to maintain programme delivery

Essential Requirements

  • SMSTS
  • NRSWA
  • SHEA
  • Proven experience supervising streetworks and utility diversion projects
  • Gas utilities experience (essential)
  • Previous experience working on HS2 or major infrastructure projects preferred
  • Strong understanding of health & safety and compliance in a utilities environment
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
