We are seeking an experienced HSE Manager to oversee and lead the health, safety, and environmental initiatives on a large-scale industrial project. The HSE Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, promoting a strong safety culture, and implementing effective HSE management systems. The role requires excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills to protect the workforce and the environment while ensuring project objectives are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain the project-specific HSE management plan.
- Provide guidance and leadership to ensure a safe working environment across all project phases.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through engagement, training, and consistent communication.
- Advise project leadership on HSE-related issues, risks, and strategies.
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and international health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards.
- Oversee incident investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions implemented.
- Maintain records and documentation in compliance with legal and company standards.
- Design and deliver HSE training programs for project staff and subcontractors.
- Ensure all employees and contractors understand and adhere to HSE policies and procedures.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and awareness campaigns.
- Identify project-specific HSE risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Manage emergency response plans and coordinate drills.
- Lead the implementation of control measures for high-risk activities, including confined space work, heavy lifting, and working at height.
- Monitor and manage environmental impacts associated with the project.
- Promote sustainability practices and ensure compliance with environmental permits and standards.
- Prepare environmental impact reports and liaise with regulatory bodies as required.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities on HSE matters.
- Prepare and present HSE performance reports to project leadership and stakeholders.
- Participate in project planning meetings to integrate HSE requirements into the project lifecycle.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certifications: NEBOSH Diploma, IOSH membership, or equivalent qualifications. Environmental management certifications (e.g., ISO 14001) are advantageous.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of HSE management experience on large industrial or construction projects. Proven track record of implementing and managing HSE systems in a high-risk environment. Experience with incident investigation, risk assessment methodologies, and regulatory compliance.
- Skills and Competencies: Strong knowledge of HSE legislation, standards, and best practices. Exceptional leadership and team management abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage diverse stakeholders. Analytical and problem-solving skills for risk assessment and mitigation. Proficiency in HSE reporting software and tools.
