Role Overview
We are currently recruiting an experienced Piping Foreman for an industrial project at the Johnson Matthey site in Royston, Hertfordshire. The Piping Foreman will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision and coordination of Pipefitters and Semi-Skilled Operatives carrying out the erection and installation of PE plastic pipework systems across the site. The successful candidate will have a strong industrial piping background with previous experience supervising mechanical installation teams on process, chemical, manufacturing, power generation or similar heavy industrial projects. Experience with PE / HDPE / plastic process piping systems would be highly advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
- Day-to-day supervision of Pipefitters and Semi-Skilled Mechanical Operatives
- Coordinating the erection and installation of PE / HDPE plastic pipework systems
- Allocating labour and daily work activities across the project
- Ensuring installation works are completed safely, efficiently and to programme
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, piping layouts and isometric drawings
- Setting out and coordinating pipework installation activities
- Ensuring correct pipe routing, alignment, levels and falls
- Overseeing the installation of pipework, fittings, flanges, valves, supports and associated components
- Coordinating PE pipe jointing/fusion activities where applicable
- Ensuring PE jointing activities are completed by suitably trained and competent personnel
- Checking completed installations against drawings and specifications
- Monitoring quality and workmanship throughout the installation process
- Identifying and resolving installation issues at workface level
- Coordinating materials, tools, equipment and access requirements
- Ensuring Pipefitters have the correct drawings, materials and equipment to complete their work
- Reporting progress, delays and potential issues to Site/Construction Management
- Coordinating activities with other mechanical, electrical and construction trades
- Assisting with pressure testing, flushing and commissioning activities
- Conducting or assisting with daily briefings and toolbox talks
- Ensuring works are completed in accordance with approved RAMS and permit-to-work procedures
Requirements
- SSSTS/LATS/IOSH
- CCNSG/ACE Card
- NVQ Level 3 Pipefitting
- Previous experience working as a Piping Foreman, Mechanical Foreman or Pipefitting Supervisor
- Strong background in industrial/process pipework installation
- Previous experience supervising teams of Pipefitters and mechanical operatives
- Experience with PE / HDPE / plastic pipework systems highly advantageous
- Ability to read and interpret piping isometrics, layouts and engineering drawings
- Strong understanding of pipework installation, supports, flanges, valves and associated components
