Job Overview: We are seeking a reliable and hardworking General Operative to support welders and pipefitters on a large-scale new build industrial project. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining a clean and safe working environment, assisting with material handling, preparing work areas, and supporting the trades to ensure smooth and efficient site operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist welders and pipefitters with daily tasks and site operations
- Move and organise tools, equipment, and materials as required
- Prepare and maintain work areas in a clean and safe condition
- Support pipe installation and fabrication processes by holding, positioning, and securing materials
- Load and unload deliveries and distribute materials on-site
- Carry out basic mechanical tasks under supervision (e.g. cutting, grinding, cleaning pipes)
- Follow health and safety procedures at all times
- Use hand tools and basic power tools as required
- Attend site briefings and toolbox talks
- Report any hazards or issues to the supervisor immediately
Requirements:
- Previous experience on construction or industrial sites preferred
- CSCS card or equivalent (if required for site)
- Ability to work in a physically demanding role
- Basic understanding of tools and construction materials
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions
- Safety-conscious with a good attitude toward health & safety practices
- Experience working around welding/fabrication processes
