Rate: First 8 hours Monday to Friday - £24.00 per hour // Over 8 hours Monday to Friday £26.00 per hour // Weekends - £29.50 per hour - Accommodation allowance - £40.00 per day

Duration: 4-6 months

Hours: 10 hours per day Monday to Friday // 8 hours Sunday

Job Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Coded MMA Welder to join a new build industrial site project. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing high-quality manual metal arc (MMA) welding on heavy plate work, adhering to project specifications, safety standards, and welding procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform coded MMA welding on carbon steel plate, structural steelwork, or fabricated assemblies.
  • Carry out multi-pass welds on fillet and butt joints in varying positions (including vertical and overhead).
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, welding procedures, and fabrication schematics.
  • Conduct welding to coded standards (BS EN ISO 9606 or equivalent).
  • Work to tight tolerances and high standards of weld quality with minimal supervision.
  • Ensure all welding equipment is properly maintained and safe to operate.
  • Follow all site health & safety procedures and permit systems.
  • Participate in toolbox talks and safety briefings as required.

Requirements

  • Valid coded MMA welding qualification (e.g., BS EN ISO 9606-1 111).
  • Proven experience in heavy plate welding on industrial or construction projects.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and weld maps.
  • Strong understanding of welding symbols, tolerances, and procedures.
  • CSCS or CCNSG Safety Passport (required).
  • Experience working on industrial new builds such as power plants, refineries, or manufacturing facilities (preferred).
  • Own PPE and welding equipment (if not provided).
  • IPAF or PASMA certification.
  • Experience with overhead crane use or heavy lifting.
