Overview: We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer in a supervisory capacity to join our team, with a direct link to the Project Management function rather than the site-based construction teams. This is a key role where technical engineering knowledge meets operational oversight, ensuring mechanical works progress on schedule and meet quality expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise mechanical engineering works across the project lifecycle, ensuring adherence to design, safety, and quality standards.
- Act as the main interface between project management and subcontracted mechanical firms.
- Monitor and report on progress of mechanical installations, flagging risks and delays early.
- Drive daily and weekly coordination with subcontractors to ensure timelines are met.
- Maintain and enforce high standards of communication and professionalism across stakeholders.
- Review drawings, specifications, and ensure installations are in line with project requirements.
- Support project managers in planning and sequencing of mechanical activities.
- Conduct site inspections and ensure compliance with regulatory and HSE requirements.
Required Experience & Skills:
- Degree-qualified Mechanical Engineer or equivalent professional background.
- Proven experience supervising mechanical works on large-scale engineering or construction projects.
- Strong understanding of project planning, sequencing, and progress tracking.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills capable of maintaining authority while working closely with subcontractors and internal teams.
- Comfortable representing the client/project team in coordination meetings and addressing technical or programme issues.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Sound understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations related to mechanical works.
