Overview
We are seeking a proactive and experienced HSE Advisor to join our team and oversee health, safety, and environmental compliance at a construction and manufacturing plant. The role involves ensuring that all site activities adhere to legal regulations, company policies, and industry best practices. This is a key position in promoting a culture of safety, reducing risks, and driving environmental sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Health and Safety Management
- Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and site-specific risk assessments.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant HSE legislation, including CDM 2015, and other local regulations.
- Incident and Emergency Management
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, producing detailed reports with root cause analyses and recommendations for improvement.
- Lead emergency preparedness initiatives, including drills and updates to site emergency response plans.
- Training and Awareness
- Deliver HSE inductions and ongoing training to staff, contractors, and visitors.
- Promote a safety-first culture through campaigns, toolbox talks, and regular communication.
- Monitor and manage environmental risks, including waste management, emissions control, and resource efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with environmental permits and sustainability objectives.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Carry out and update RAMS.
- Maintain accurate records of audits, incidents, and inspections in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and submit regular HSE performance reports to management.
- Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with construction, manufacturing, and engineering teams to integrate HSE considerations into planning and operations.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and external auditors as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent HSE qualification.
- Proven experience in an HSE advisory role within construction and/or manufacturing environments 2+ years of experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of UK HSE regulations, including CDM 2015 and ISO 45001.
- Strong risk assessment and incident investigation skills.
- Highly valued: university degree in Health & Safety, Construction Skills Certification Scheme Card, Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme Card.
