The Role: Integrate Engineering Resources is currently recruiting for a Design Manager on behalf of our client, a market leader in the mechanical services, water and waste water process sectors. The role will involve providing design engineering solutions and acting as Design Co-ordinator for multi-disciplinary teams made up of Mechanical, Process, Civil and Electrical Engineers in Water Sector projects.
Duties:
- Produce design layouts which are cost effective, meet the requirements of the specification and which can be purchased, installed and commissioned effectively.
- Evaluate the whole out turn cost of the design solution including design time costs, material costs, fabrication costs, erection costs and any impact that the design solution might have on other disciplines.
- Produce well engineered, efficient design solutions to time and cost, that comply with client and industry standards.
- Operate as a design co-ordinator leading/managing a team of multi-disciplinary engineers.
- Ensure all designs meet the required health, safety and environmental requirements.
- Undertake technical assessments and equipment selection.
- Provide technical support to other departments.
- Manage and develop less experienced engineers in the business.
- Manage all CAD Designers to ensure the correct execution of all 3D models, fabrication and assembly drawings.
Requirements:
- Relevant degree, with 5-10 years relevant experience.
- Proven track record of leading projects, providing mechanical engineering design and delivering work packages to a client.
- Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and legislation.
- An excellent communicator and negotiator, with good technical, people management and inter-personal skills.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Commercial awareness in dealings with clients, proposals and projects.
- UK resident with full UK driving licence.
- Detailed knowledge of the Municipal and Industrial Wastewater sectors; additional Water sector knowledge would be advantageous.
