Job Overview: We are currently seeking experienced Steel Erectors/Fitters to join a major new build project in Barnsley. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a long-term construction programme involving the assembly and installation of structural steel frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Erect and bolt up steel structures in accordance with technical drawings and method statements.
- Align, level, and secure steel components using appropriate tools and equipment (e.g. MEWPs, torque wrenches).
- Work at height following safe systems of work and using fall arrest or fall restraint systems.
- Assist with unloading and distributing steelwork on site.
- Carry out snagging and minor modifications as required to meet structural specifications.
- Liaise with site supervisors and other trades to ensure coordinated and efficient workflow.
- Follow all health and safety procedures, reporting any issues or incidents immediately.
- Maintain site cleanliness and equipment in good working condition.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Steel Erector or Structural Steel Fitter on industrial or commercial sites.
- Valid CSCS Card (Steel Erector or Fitter).
- IPAF certification (for operating MEWPs).
- Ability to read and interpret steelwork drawings and erection plans.
- Comfortable working at height and using harness systems.
- Full PPE and tools.
