Fabric Maintenance Engineer

Shift Pattern on Rotation

  • 5 days On – 3 days Off (4 shifts)
  • 4 days On – 4 days Off (3 shifts)

Role Overview

An exciting opportunity to join our team as a Fabric Maintenance Engineer at Queensgate Shopping Centre.

The main purpose of the position is to carry out planned and reactive maintenance in accordance with JLL's Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) and task schedules.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Technical Maintenance Activities
  • General Carpentry
  • Fire door maintenance and repair
  • Weekly fire alarm testing
  • Weekly tap flushing
  • Air Handling Unit (AHU) cleaning & servicing
  • Basic plumbing and drainage repairs
  • Patch repairs to wall and floor tiling, carpets, lino & screeds
  • Suspended ceiling repairs
  • Shelving/racking installation and repairs
  • Lock changes/repairs
  • Painting & Decorating
  • Operational Excellence
  • Undertake PPM activity in a quality, professional manner
  • Work within the site's shift pattern requirements
  • Carry out all works requested in a professional and proactive manner
  • Undertake reactive maintenance works as directed by the Help Desk and/or management team
  • Manage JLL sub-contractors while working on site
  • Escalate any major site issues or incidents to line manager promptly
  • Reporting & Communication
  • Produce technical and situational reports as required
  • Write activity reports accurately and timely in line with JLL procedures
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with the team and clients
  • Provide accurate timesheet information weekly and on time
  • Attend team meetings/briefings as requested
  • Technology & Compliance
  • Use provided technology systems to ensure compliance with contractual obligations
  • Assist the management team in producing quotations by providing accurate information on extra works
  • Present JLL in a good light at all times
  • Emergency Support
  • Provide first‑line out‑of‑hours call‑out for the site
  • Health, Safety & Environmental
  • Understand and adhere to all relevant Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality legislation
  • Handle, store and use all materials and equipment in compliance with legislation
  • Participate in health and safety processes including accident investigation, reporting, risk assessments and auditing
  • Co‑operate with JLL to fulfil moral and legal duties and obligations
  • Follow reasonable instructions from the Contract Manager or Line Managers

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Technical Qualifications
  • Fabric Engineer apprenticeship / Carpentry & Joinery qualifications
  • Proven post‑apprenticeship practical experience
  • Personal Skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to deal with all levels of staff
  • Commitment to providing a high‑quality service to customers
  • Team player willing to work flexibly and overtime as required
  • Proactive in achieving the highest standard of operation
  • Strong IT and report‑writing skills
  • Ability to work under pressure while remaining calm and clear‑thinking to deliver services within given time constraints
