This role operates on a split shift pattern (06:00-14:00 / 14:00-22:00) and requires a dedicated professional who can seamlessly manage both planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance while supporting advanced smart building platforms.
- A key aspect of this role is to work hand in hand with the wider workspace team to deliver a resilient and consistent engineering service that supports the wider team goal of delivering an excellent workplace experience to our client's colleagues and their guests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engineering Operations & Maintenance: Deliver comprehensive planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programs across the portfolio, ensuring all mechanical, electrical, and building systems operate at optimal performance levels. Respond promptly to reactive maintenance requests, diagnosing faults and implementing effective solutions to minimise downtime and maintain service continuity. Perform routine inspections, testing, and servicing of critical building systems to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and manufacturer specifications.
- Smart Building Platforms: Operate and maintain integrated smart building platforms and building management systems (BMS), utilising technology to optimise building performance, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort. Monitor system performance data, identify trends, and proactively address potential issues before they impact operations. Support the implementation and optimisation of smart building technologies to enhance operational efficiency across the portfolio.
- Due Diligence & Compliance: Maintain meticulous engineering records, ensuring all maintenance activities, inspections, and compliance documentation are accurately recorded and readily accessible. Conduct thorough risk assessments and implement safe working practices in accordance with health and safety regulations. Ensure all work is completed to the highest standards, meeting both client expectations and regulatory requirements.
- One Team Approach: Collaborate effectively with colleagues across shifts, facilities management teams, and client stakeholders to ensure seamless 24-hour operational coverage. Share knowledge, best practices, and critical handover information to maintain continuity of service between shifts. Actively contribute to team meetings, continuous improvement initiatives, and the development of efficient working practices.
- Value Delivery: Identify and implement opportunities for operational improvements, cost savings, and enhanced service delivery during each shift. Proactively communicate with clients and building occupants, providing excellent customer service and building strong working relationships. Support the achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs) through consistent high-quality delivery.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Recognised engineering qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent) in mechanical, electrical, or building services engineering.
- Proven multi-skilled engineering experience within commercial property or facilities management environments.
- Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, heating) and electrical systems (lighting, power distribution, emergency systems).
- Experience with building management systems (BMS) and smart building technologies.
- Sound understanding of health and safety regulations and statutory compliance requirements.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team across split shift patterns.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose faults and implement effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Full UK driving license (desirable).
Personal Attributes:
- Self-motivated and proactive with a strong work ethic.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to engineering excellence.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and operational demands.
- Customer-focused with a professional approach to service delivery.
- Team player who embodies the 'One Team' philosophy.
