What this job involves:
We're looking for a Business Rates Account Manager to join our Business Rates Team on established client instructions. You'll be reviewing and approving liabilities, ensuring relief applications are accurate, and liaising with colleagues, clients, and local government agencies. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the local taxation system and be able to identify opportunities to generate savings for clients.
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Manage assigned clients' Business Rate, BID Levy, and Council Tax liabilities across their property portfolio
- Ensure all entitlements to reliefs are explored and claimed
- Ensure demanded liabilities are correct and take necessary steps to remedy where they are not
- Liaise with clients, surveyors, Local Authorities, and the Valuation Office regarding changes to the property portfolio from both an occupational basis and amendments to the Rating List
- Recover overpayments from Local Authorities
- Highlight appropriate opportunities within a portfolio to the wider JLL Rating Team
- Ensure the Riverlake database is maintained to accurately reflect the current position of the client's portfolio
- Manage clients' contracted service level agreements and expectations to ensure compliance
- Operate as a client contact, attend meetings, and provide support and advice
Required Skills & Experience:
- Experience of the Business Rates system as a Rate Account Manager or from a Local Authority background
- Knowledge of rating case law and legislation
- Good analytical and reporting skills
- Familiarity with Riverlake, Analyse, and Softology software
- Possess a professional attitude
- Able to manage and prioritize own workload and assign tasks to administrative support
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
