Job Description:

Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Core Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm

Role Purpose:

To undertake planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment, building fabric within a corporate service environment. As an integrated member of the engineering team, you will be responsible for effective inspection, operation, and maintenance of all associated MEP assets within the critical facility, with a primary focus on critical facilities risk management, enhancing service delivery through effective technical engineering capabilities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Effectively undertake electrical reactive and corrective tasks on associated electrical systems.
  • Liaise with the supply chain for ordering M&E components for remedial/corrective works.
  • Attend training courses as identified by management in line with the training matrix.
  • Complete responsibilities in line with the site-based MEP responsibilities matrix.
  • Alarm Response and Escalations for critical alarms when on duty.
  • Participate in the site ONWH escalation and support the 24/7 operation (On-Call).
  • Escalate vendor performance issues with details of concerns.
  • Work as a key member of the engineering team.
  • Operate all MEP systems effectively, recommending improvements and providing technical reports.
  • Ensure vendor service visits are completed effectively, inspecting work quality.
  • Provide backup cover for engineering shifts during absences.
  • Report on critical systems availability daily.
  • Attend team meetings as scheduled.
  • Maintain and audit site spares, procure spares if needed.
  • Support incident & near miss reporting and reviews.
  • Review and prepare operational procedures and participate in drills.
  • Contribute to safety improvements, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Arrange suitable cover for annual leave, liaising with supply chain for parts.
  • Undertake technical assessments and skills gap analysis.
  • Manage areas under control, maintaining standards.
  • Evaluate risks and escalate issues accordingly.
  • Complete work orders ensuring reliability and accuracy.

Personal Specification:

  • Experience in critical environments such as data centers or banking.
  • C&G / NVQ in Electrical Engineering or similar.
  • C&G Pts. 1 & 2 or equivalent.
  • 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations.
  • Test and inspection certification (desirable).
  • Good communication, IT, and report writing skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and remain professional.
  • Willingness to attend training, including nights away if necessary.
  • Proactive, with high initiative and drive for improvement.
  • Professional appearance, integrity, honesty, punctuality.
  • Ability to understand and act on instructions.
  • Reliable team player.
