The Engineering Support Manager is responsible for overseeing and leading all aspects of work order management, including planning, scheduling, closure, and compliance within the UK engineering service. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, ensuring timely and efficient completion of work orders, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

What This Job Involves

  • Work Order Planning and Scheduling: Coordinate with internal stakeholders to understand work order requirements and priorities. Develop and implement efficient planning and scheduling processes to optimize resource allocation. Ensure all resources, materials, permits, and equipment are available and scheduled accordingly.
  • Work Order Closure: Monitor the progress of work orders to ensure timely completion. Review completed work orders for compliance with quality standards and specifications. Verify all necessary documentation, including completion reports and compliance certificates.
  • Compliance Management: Stay updated on relevant regulations, codes, and industry best practices. Ensure all work orders are executed in compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Develop and implement protocols and training programs to maintain compliance.
  • Team Management: Supervise and provide guidance to a team of engineering support staff. Assign work orders, prioritize tasks, and monitor team performance. Conduct regular training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge of the team. Address any identified non-compliance issues promptly and implement corrective actions.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect and analyze data related to work order management, including performance metrics and trends. Generate reports summarizing key findings and recommendations for process improvement. Implement data-driven strategies to optimize work order management and resource allocation.
  • Vendor Management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and evaluate potential vendors. Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and service level agreements. Requirements:

  • Engineering Apprenticeship/trade qualification.
  • Proven experience in planning and scheduling work orders in a similar role.
  • Solid understanding of engineering principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and compliance standards.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in using work order management software and tools.
