We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing national business for a Supply Chain Planner to join their Planning team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong analytical, Excel and organisational skills who is looking to develop their career within supply chain. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the right stock is in the right place at the right time, working closely with suppliers and internal teams to maintain excellent availability while effectively controlling inventory and costs.

The Role

As a Supply Chain Planner, you will manage the end-to-end planning and supply of approximately 550–1,500 SKUs, while building and maintaining relationships with 50–100 suppliers and ensuring sufficient stock is available across multiple locations.

  • Analysing historical data and market trends to forecast future product demand.
  • Maintaining optimal inventory levels while working towards approximately 20 stock days.
  • Monitoring stock availability and supplier performance.
  • Building strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Identifying potential supply shortages, transportation delays and other risks, taking action to minimise disruption.
  • Managing stock movements between locations to maximise availability and sales.
  • Highlighting problem or obsolete stock and working with internal teams to find effective solutions.
  • Supporting forecasting for key customers, promotions and seasonal demand.
  • Making commercially sound purchasing decisions and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
  • Contributing towards high supplier service levels and overall supply chain performance.

What We’re Looking For

You don't necessarily need to already be an experienced Supply Chain Planner. We're particularly interested in candidates with strong analytical ability, excellent Excel skills and the potential to develop within the role.

You will ideally have:

  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with data.
  • Good numeracy, IT and administration skills.
  • Some exposure to supply planning principles.
  • The ability to analyse large datasets, identify trends and make informed decisions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a solutions-focused approach.
  • Excellent organisation and time-management skills.
  • Good attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver work to deadlines.

Previous experience within supply chain planning, forecasting, demand planning, inventory management, procurement or logistics would be advantageous but isn't essential.

Experience with supply chain planning software such as SAP, Oracle or JDA, data-analysis tools or a CIPS Level 3 qualification would also be beneficial.

Salary & Benefits

In return, you'll receive a salary of £32,640 per annum, working Monday to Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm, alongside a strong benefits package including:

  • 6.6 weeks' holiday per annum
  • Opportunity to buy or sell up to 5 days' holiday each year
  • 3% employer pension contribution with a 5% employee contribution on qualifying salary
  • Optional Medicash healthcare cash plan
  • Life insurance worth 2x annual salary
  • Employee discounts and regular staff offers
  • Discounted purchases through a staff account
  • Online discount portal offering savings across gyms, cinemas, supermarkets, high-street retailers and more
  • Employee Assistance Programme offering confidential support, wellbeing resources and access to legal advice
  • Staff savings scheme
  • Staff charity lottery
  • An additional day off each year to support a charitable cause of your choice
  • Working for a Living Wage Foundation accredited employer

Interested?

If you're analytical, commercially minded and enjoy using data to solve problems, this could be an excellent opportunity to take the next step in your supply chain career.
