European Transport Planner in Kent

European Transport Planner Full Time, Permanent Location: Dartford Salary: £30,000£35,000 per annum Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am5:30pm Contract: Full Time, Permanent We are currently recruiting for a mid-level to experienced European Transport Planner to join a busy and established transport operation based in Dartford. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planner who understands UK and European transport and enjoys the challenge of coordinating vehicles, drivers and freight in a fast-paced environment. Youll take responsibility for the day-to-day planning of collections and deliveries across the UK and Europe, working with a combination of company fleet, owner drivers and subcontractors. The role requires someone who can think on their feet, solve problems quickly and make commercially sound decisions while maintaining a high level of service for customers. The Role As a European Transport Planner, youll be responsible for planning and coordinating daily transport operations, ensuring vehicles and drivers are utilised as efficiently as possible. Youll work closely with other planners, drivers, customers and subcontractors to keep freight moving and ensure collections and deliveries are completed on time. A key part of the position is reducing empty running, controlling transport costs and identifying opportunities to improve profitability without compromising customer service. Your responsibilities will include: Planning collections and deliveries throughout the UK and Europe Coordinating company vehicles, owner drivers and subcontractors Planning efficient routes and maximising vehicle utilisation Minimising empty running and unnecessary transport costs Working closely with other planners to maximise fleet efficiency Liaising with drivers regarding routes, schedules and job updates Monitoring collections and deliveries and resolving issues proactively Managing and supporting owner drivers to achieve performance targets Maintaining excellent communication with customers Identifying opportunities to increase revenue through freight forwarding Working commercially to maximise gross profit across transport operations Maintaining customer information, pricing and fuel matrices Supporting KPI monitoring and reporting Handling invoice queries alongside internal teams Keeping transport systems and records accurate and up to date Recording and managing non-compliance issues Attending customer visits when required Providing out-of-hours support when necessary What we're looking for Previous European transport planning experience Strong knowledge of UK and European geography Good understanding of route planning and fleet utilisation Experience working with drivers, owner drivers and subcontractors Commercial awareness with an understanding of transport costs and profitability Strong communication and customer service skills Confident problem-solving and decision-making ability Excellent organisation and multitasking skills Ability to work effectively in a busy, fast-paced transport environment What's on offer £30,000£35,000 per annum Monday to Friday working 9:00am5:30pm hours Full-time, permanent position Varied UK and European transport planning Opportunity to join an established and busy transport operation Long-term career opportunity If youre an experienced Transport Planner with good European knowledge and youre looking for your next permanent opportunity in Dartford, wed be keen to hear from you.
