We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing national business for a Supply Chain Planner to join their Planning team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong analytical, Excel and organisational skills who is looking to develop their career within supply chain.
You will be responsible for ensuring the right stock is in the right place at the right time, working closely with suppliers and internal teams to maintain excellent availability while effectively controlling inventory and costs.
The Role:
- Manage the end-to-end planning and supply of approximately 550-1,500 SKUs.
- Build and maintain relationships with 50-100 suppliers.
- Ensure sufficient stock is available across multiple locations.
- Analyse historical data and market trends to forecast future product demand.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels while working towards approximately 20 stock days.
- Monitor stock availability and supplier performance.
- Identify potential supply shortages, transportation delays and other risks, taking action to minimise disruption.
- Manage stock movements between locations to maximise availability and sales.
- Highlight problem or obsolete stock and work with internal teams to find effective solutions.
- Support forecasting for key customers, promotions and seasonal demand.
- Make commercially sound purchasing decisions and identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Contribute towards high supplier service levels and overall supply chain performance.
What We're Looking For:
- Strong analytical ability and excellent Excel skills.
- Good numeracy, IT and administration skills.
- Some exposure to supply planning principles.
- The ability to analyse large datasets, identify trends and make informed decisions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a solutions-focused approach.
- Excellent organisation and time-management skills.
- Good attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver work to deadlines.
- Previous experience within supply chain planning, forecasting, demand planning, inventory management, procurement or logistics would be advantageous but isn't essential.
- Experience with supply chain planning software such as SAP, Oracle or JDA, data-analysis tools or a CIPS Level 3 qualification would also be beneficial.
