Reports to: Head of Product Development – Luminaires, LED Strip and Controls

Department: Integral LED

Location: Head Office (Wembley) - hybrid (2 days per week in the office)

About The Role

We’re growing the project side of our business and building our reputation in the lighting specification and design space — and bringing our lighting design capability in-house is central to that. We currently work with external lighting designers, but the volume of designs we produce, the projects we want to win, and the depth of our own product range mean it’s the right time to build this function ourselves. This is a new internal role and a real opportunity to shape how we design and deliver projects, and to give our customers an even better experience. It will suit someone who enjoys lighting design and likes getting to know products inside out, so they can turn them into practical, compliant and competitive solutions.

Working closely with our Integral LED sales teams — both on the road and in the office — and our Integral LED product team, you’ll provide lighting design, ideation and technical advice on LED installs to our wide customer base. You’ll design and deliver lighting solutions across a wide range of projects, from large-scale commercial spaces to smaller commercial and office installations, showcasing the full Integral LED range and making the most of the opportunities that specification and design work brings. This is a hybrid role based at our Head Office (Wembley), with two days a week in the office, plus regular travel nationally to support project and sales activity.

Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed lighting designs, layouts and calculations (lux levels, compliance, and so on) in line with CIBSE lighting guidance and BS EN 12464-1 regulations.
  • Manage multiple projects from initial brief through to final design sign-off.
  • Deliver designs across a wide range of sectors — including government, education, healthcare, industry, street, sports and commercial office — and support consultants, installers and wholesalers with creative lighting designs for their own customers.
  • Provide lighting design, ideation and technical advice throughout the sales cycle, working alongside the Integral LED sales teams.
  • Produce clear, usable design packs that help the sales team with quotations and customer conversations.
  • Upload and manage project designs, specifications and supporting documents within the CRM.
  • Develop and maintain accurate records of project progress, specifications and revisions.
  • Conduct site visits nationally, including for larger or more complex projects, to assess requirements, validate designs and support sales activity.
  • Liaise directly with contractors, consultants and end users to understand project needs.
  • Work closely with the Integral LED product team to ensure product ranges meet real-world design requirements.
  • Feed back on gaps in the current product range, performance improvements and new product opportunities, helping shape future product development.
  • Support the introduction of new Integral LED products with design guidance and application examples.

This role will require regular site visits nationally in support of sales team activities.

About You

The successful candidate will be able to showcase a portfolio of previous projects both architectural and commercial in nature and explain how they approached the task of creating an engaging lighting design for a client. Ideally supported by a relevant technical qualification, this role requires experience in lighting design (commercial, industrial, or architectural). A strong understanding of lighting calculations, compliance, and standards are essential, particularly:

  • CIBSE (especially LG7, LG1, and LG5) as we move to healthcare, sports, and urban lighting.
  • BS EN 12464-1 with an understanding of glare and uniformity, and how it impacts lighting compliance.

Technically competent to deliver designs that are accurate, compliant, and delivered on time, whilst also capable of influencing technical product development. Demonstrable experience using lighting design software, preferably RELUX (e.g. Dialux, Relux or similar). Commercial awareness and ability to support a sales-driven environment, with a clear customer focus and drive to support sales growth. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, alongside good project management skills. Confident communicator, both internally and with customers on-site. Previous experience of using a CRM (Ideally, SugarCRM). A valid driving license and the willingness to travel as required.
