Join a Growing, High-Tech FMCG Manufacturing Site

About the Role

Following its recent acquisition by a global industry leader, this site is entering a period of significant investment, automation upgrades, and long-term expansion. The facility produces high-quality FMCG products for major UK retailers and offers a clean, modern, and well‑organised environment with strong opportunities for technical development.

We are seeking hands‑on Maintenance Technicians to support the reliability, uptime, and safe operation of production lines and site facilities. This position is ideal for individuals with a solid mechanical foundation who want to advance their skills within a fast‑paced, highly regulated manufacturing setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and respond to reactive maintenance tasks to minimise downtime.
  • Conduct mechanical repairs and component replacements on production assets, including drives, solenoids, motors, conveyors, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Assist with basic electrical fault finding and isolation where trained.
  • Operate, inspect, and maintain general facility systems to ensure site‑wide reliability.
  • Support waste management and recycling processes, including correct handling of hazardous substances in line with COSHH requirements.
  • Perform seasonal grounds maintenance, including snow and ice clearance for safe site access.
  • Participate in goods‑in/goods‑out operations and safe chemical storage and handling.
  • Complete routine H&S inspections, ensuring emergency equipment (fire extinguishers, spill kits, eyewash stations) is maintained and compliant.
  • Maintain high standards of workplace organisation (5S), cleanliness, and operational discipline.

Qualifications & Skills Required

  • NVQ Level 2 in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a similar discipline (with a willingness to complete Level 3).
  • Foundational knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical basics, and fabrication techniques.
  • Strong awareness of safe working practices, including LOTO and hazard identification.
  • Practical problem‑solver with a proactive and structured approach to tasks.
  • Reliable, organised, and committed to delivering high‑quality workmanship.
  • Effective communicator and team player with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Physically fit for manual handling, outdoor work, and machinery operation.
