The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support or working with small groups of pupils.
  • Supporting the class teacher to deliver engaging and effective lessons.
  • Monitoring pupil progress and reporting any concerns to the wider school team.
  • Assisting with lesson preparation and classroom organisation.
  • Supervising pupils during breaktimes, educational visits and extracurricular activities.
  • Setting and marking work where appropriate.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and building strong, supportive relationships with pupils.
  • Helping to create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for candidates who have

  • A strong basic education, ideally to A-level, with GCSE Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational support role.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, SEND or additional learning needs.
  • Confidence in behaviour management and de-escalation techniques.
  • A proactive, patient and compassionate approach.
  • Good IT skills and excellent communication skills.
  • A willingness to take on additional responsibilities within school where appropriate (for example Forest School, lunchtime supervision or Food Hygiene).
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or above)
