About the Role
We are seeking a creative, flexible and relationship-focused mentor to support a 13‑year‑old autistic young person accessing an EOTAS package through their EHCP. This is not a traditional teaching or tutoring role. Learning takes place through interests, life skills, community experiences and real‑world activities. The successful mentor will build a trusting relationship and support learning in ways that feel meaningful, engaging and accessible.

- Understand autism and neuroaffirming practice
- Have awareness and understanding of health needs and the impact they can have on day‑to‑day life, wellbeing and engagement
- Be flexible, patient and relationship-focused
- Have a good sense of humour
- Be creative and able to think outside the box
- Understand trauma‑informed approaches
- Be happy supporting learning through interests and experiences
- Be comfortable adapting plans as needed
- Enjoy spending time with young people and building genuine connections
Essential Requirements
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
- Non‑smoker
- Comfortable around pets, particularly cats
- Able to work collaboratively with family and professionals
- Willing to complete a probationary period
Desirable Experience
- Understanding of autism, ADHD and PDA
- Awareness of physical and/or mental health conditions and their impact on daily life
- EOTAS, alternative provision or mentoring experience
- Community‑based learning
- Life skills support
- Outdoor activities and nature
- Cooking and practical skills
