Our client, a Global multi-billion AUM investment management firm, is seeking a Data Analyst to join their business.

The Role

You will report into the data & AI function supporting the Senior Portfolio Manager heading European equities, a 20-year+ equity investor veteran at a top tier investment bank. You will work closely with equity research analysts. Your role is right between the investment decision and data analysis. Under the guidance of your team members, you will deepen your understanding of the market and stock drivers, develop tools to source and query the data required for the investment decision, integrate it into the team’s data infrastructure and visualise it in the most optimal form. You will use AI assistants and agentic coding tools as a core part of your day-to-day work and will be expected to review and validate their output. You will be working in a fast-paced, performance-oriented environment with a high-achieving team who is driven by professional goals but also shares common human values of team spirit and inclusiveness.

Your Responsibilities

  • Maintain the tools in place and develop customised new tools used in the day-to-day management of the fund and sourcing of new ideas, including AI based solutions, data pipelines and dashboards.
  • Liaise with third-party alternative and market data providers, including Bloomberg product specialists, to source the most appropriate data, evaluate its quality and relevance, and integrate it into the team’s stack.
  • Automate fundamental stock analysis processes — ingestion, information extraction and visualisation of structured and unstructured data — and streamline company monitoring, including the checks required to identify when a data source or an automated process produces incorrect output.
  • Follow developments in AI models, tooling and vendors relevant to the team’s work, and build an understanding of the broader AI industry landscape and the investable implications of new AI innovations as they emerge.
  • Maintain and extend the structured recording of internally created investment datapoints and research, increasing the effectiveness of internal solutions.
  • Support ad-hoc analytical tasks, such as back-testing investment ideas, producing portfolio risk and exposure views, and applying statistical models where they help inform investment decisions.

Qualifications & Experience

  • BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or another quantitative discipline. Strong programming experience from a finance or economics background is also welcome.
  • 5+ years in a data, engineering or quantitative-developer role.

Technical Skills

  • Strong coding experience in Python, including data analysis and visualisation packages.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, or the desire and ability to learn it quickly.
  • Experience using AI coding assistants (Claude, Codex or similar) and the ability to critically review their output.
  • Awareness of the current AI model and tooling landscape is a plus.
  • Knowledge of regression/basic machine learning algorithms and the judgment to apply them appropriately.
  • Evidence of independent learning and personal technical projects is a plus.
  • Desire to understand market drivers and learn about stocks, fundamental analysis and stock picking.

Soft Skills

  • A proactive, analytical and self-starter mindset.
  • Able to deliver under time pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work independently and in a team.
  • Humility and a constant desire to learn and improve.
  • High attention to detail.
  • The ability to communicate clearly.

If you are a data or computer scientist by education and want to develop the system, intuition and market understanding behind successful investing with modern AI tooling and automations, then this role is for you. It will also be the best way to build such a career within an organisation founded by respected investment leaders.
