Working on behalf of a local authority, Intech Recruitment are looking for an experienced Policy Manager. Initially a three-month placement to manage Strategy and Policy Team whilst they recruit a permanent lead. You will be responsible for delivering priority programmes for the Council, including the delivery of the borough's vision for the coming decade, and our ambitious response to the challenge of Climate Change. Alongside this, you will need to be able to quickly establish a strong working relationship across the Council, and take ownership of the strategy pipeline.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- At least 3 years’ experience of policy and or research in central, local government, public body or think tank.
- Working with politicians and senior stakeholders.
- Collaborative policy development with think tanks and/or campaigning organisations.
- Managing large complex projects and programmes.
- Partnership working with a range of public or private agencies.
- Highly skilled influencer, negotiator, and networker.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to respond rapidly to requests for written briefs and information.
- Ability to manage complex logistics of partnership events.
- Ability to conduct and analyse research.
- Ability to work flexibly and quickly get to grips with new areas and support others to do so.
- The ability to work creatively to solve problems.
- A good understanding of the issues facing local government and the way in which local government broadly operates.
- Understanding of the public policy making process.
- The ability to operate with sensitivity within a political environment.
- Prepared to challenge existing thinking in a positive manner.
