Overview:
A Tier 1 Investment Bank is seeking an experienced Lead Business Analyst to play a key role in a major multi-year transformation programme, initially focused on the replacement of the organisation\βs General Ledger system.
This role will lead business analysis efforts across a complex technology and data landscape, ensuring that business requirements are clearly defined, data flows are well understood, and high-quality analysis artefacts are delivered. The successful candidate will combine strong analytical, leadership, and stakeholder management skills with deep experience in financial systems and data-driven initiatives.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and track bank-side IT development activities and issues supporting the strategic transformation programme.
- Lead and mentor a team of business analysts, providing coaching, guidance, and performance oversight.
- Facilitate requirement-gathering workshops and ensure user stories are well-defined, prioritised, and understood by delivery teams.
- Contribute to backlog refinement and sprint planning sessions, aligning workstreams with business objectives.
- Deliver comprehensive analysis artefacts, including process maps, data models, and acceptance criteria.
- Identify and manage risks, issues, and dependencies related to business analysis deliverables.
- Report progress, risks, and insights to senior stakeholders and programme leadership.
- Conduct data mapping, transformation, and in-depth analysis across large, complex data sets.
- Analyse data flows and design effective data solutions to support business and regulatory needs.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency through strong governance, security, and compliance practices.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience leading business analysis across full project lifecycles within financial services.
- Strong understanding of software development and Agile delivery frameworks (Jira, Confluence).
- Demonstrable success managing or mentoring small analyst teams within complex programmes.
- Advanced data analysis capabilities, including SQL (SQL Server & Oracle) and Excel (Advanced).
- Expertise in data modelling, data management, and data quality improvement.
- Strong understanding of financial systems, General Ledger, and transformation/migration projects.
- Knowledge of multiple asset classes (e.g. FX, ETD, Bonds, Credit Products).
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels.
- High attention to detail, with strong problem-solving and organisational abilities.
- Commercial awareness and adaptability in fast-paced, evolving environments.
