Our client is seeking an experienced PMO Consultant to provide expert guidance and support across their programme and project management function. The role focuses on strengthening PMO capability, enhancing governance, improving reporting, and driving consistent project execution across the organisation.

The successful candidate will bring structure, clarity, and pace, working closely with senior stakeholders to maintain delivery momentum and provide pragmatic, expert advice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consultancy support to the PMO function, ensuring consistent standards, controls, and governance across all programmes and projects.
  • Advise on the delivery of the portfolio plan, tracking progress, milestones, risks, and dependencies.
  • Support senior leadership with accurate, timely reporting and insights.
  • Assist in resource planning and prioritisation, identifying opportunities for optimisation.
  • Review and enhance project management frameworks, tools, and processes to improve delivery capability.
  • Mentor and guide Programme and Project Managers, providing challenge and escalation support as needed.
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate risks, issues, and dependencies to enable informed decision‑making.
  • Act as a key point of contact between delivery teams and senior stakeholders, providing PMO best practice guidance.
  • Ensure projects remain aligned to organisational priorities and capacity.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in a senior PMO role, ideally as a PMO Consultant or interim leader.
  • Strong background in portfolio, programme, and project delivery, with a focus on practical execution.
  • Demonstrable experience implementing and advising on PMO governance and reporting frameworks.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with confidence engaging at senior leadership level.
  • Strong planning, prioritisation, and resource management expertise.
  • Experience working in complex, multi‑project environments.
  • Clear, concise communication and reporting skills.
  • Pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset with the ability to bring stability and assurance.
