We’re supporting an innovative aerospace organisation seeking experienced Aircraft Technicians with strong avionic fitting and/or mechanical systems expertise. This role involves supporting the build, commissioning, and testing of prototype aircraft and associated subsystems. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a high-profile, hands-on flight test programme at the forefront of aviation technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fit mechanical and avionic components in accordance with engineering drawings, build plans, and instructions to the highest standards of airworthiness.
  • Build, test, commission, and maintain aircraft sub-assemblies and full systems, including both low and high-voltage electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Support the development and operation of ground-based test rigs and participate in aircraft flight test activities, both in the UK and potentially overseas.
  • Ensure accurate and complete documentation (e.g., work cards, technical logs, ERP entries).
  • Maintain tool control, workshop cleanliness, and strict Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention practices.
  • Always adhere to health, safety, and quality procedures.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Recognised qualification or apprenticeship in aircraft engineering (commercial or military).
  • 2–5+ years of experience in aircraft production, maintenance, or overhaul.
  • Mechanical or electrical/avionic background: Mechanical: Structural techniques, composite repairs, fitting. Electrical: High Voltage systems, wiring harness assembly, crimping, soldering.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and aircraft documentation.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to high-quality work.
  • Flexible, team-oriented, and proactive approach.
  • Competent IT skills, including use of electronic work cards and Microsoft Office.
  • Full UK driving licence.
