IT Operations Manager – IIR35 £550PD – 6 months
A highly reputable public sector corporation is hiring an IT operations manager responsible for the daily operations and oversight of the IT service delivery / cloud / on-premise infrastructure within a multi-million corporation. You will be responsible for managing a small team, covering multiple specialisms within Ops (Data, Cloud, Security, Virtualisation, Storage, and Back-Up). Initially, the role will be 50% technical and 50% managerial but will evolve into a less technical role as the team grows. This contract opportunity requires weekly office presence and is paying up to £550PD Inside IR 35 for a 6 month project.
To be considered for this role, you must have demonstrated proven experience within service desk/desktop/infrastructure support and be able to provide incident management, strategy, governance, capacity planning and resourcing for a medium sized corporation with several internal projects ongoing (cloud migrations, zero trust network, data warehouse platform, cyber upgrade etc.) – any exposure to the Public Sector (council or borough) would be highly advantageous.
Core Responsibilities:
- Operational responsibility for the whole IT infrastructure at Head Office and portfolio marketing suites, ensuring a high level of customer service is maintained whilst delivering a smooth and timely support experience.
- Assist the Head of IT in the budget process and creation of various management reports.
- Management and development of various processes, including third-party cyber security risk and IT risk management (conducting meetings with the broader business, maintaining the risk register etc.).
- Identify and take action to mitigate risk, ensuring adequate controls.
- Develop and improve infrastructure (including network design), services, policies, procedures and processes.
Essential:
- Local government or public sector experience is a must have.
- Equivalent to 10+ years’ experience of service desk/desktop or specialised IT Operational support experience or similar role.
- Technical knowledge of operational infrastructure (Azure/AWS, Virtual Data Centre), devices (laptops/virtual desktops) and other systems used (Windows 10, Azure AD+hosting, Intune, Office 365 suite including Teams, Defender, AOVPN and SharePoint).
- Understanding of cyber security, GDPR and privacy best practices.
- Experience managing a service delivery function.
- Experience in running incident, request and change management.
- ITIL, Microsoft, and VMware qualifications are desirable.
