PHP Developer
Basingstoke (Hybrid - 1 day onsite per week) £40,000 - £55,000 per annum Overview A growing organisation is looking for an experienced PHP Developer to join their internal technology team, supporting the development and enhancement of business-critical CRM applications.
Working within a cross-functional Scrum team, this role will deliver new functionality, improve existing systems, and support the continued evolution of applications to meet changing business needs.
This is an opportunity for a skilled PHP Developer to work in a collaborative Agile environment, delivering high-quality software solutions alongside developers, QA, Business Analysts, and Dev Ops teams.
Roles & Responsibilities
Develop and maintain backend systems using PHP (Laravel/Cake PHP).
Deliver features end-to-end, including development, testing, and deployment.
Enhance existing applications, including legacy Cake PHP systems.
Build and maintain APIs and backend services.
Write clean, maintainable code following development standards and best practices.
Contribute to code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD processes.
Support system design, integrations, and technical improvements.
Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with wider technology teams.
Identify opportunities to improve performance, scalability, and reduce technical debt.
Skills & Experience
3+ years’ commercial experience in PHP development.
Strong experience with PHP 7.4 (Cake PHP) and PHP 8+ (Laravel/Symfony).
Experience building backend systems and APIs.
Strong knowledge of My SQL, including queries and performance optimisation.
Working knowledge of Java Script (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS.
Experience with Git, branching workflows, and pull requests.
Familiarity with Docker and Linux/WSL environments.
Experience with unit testing and automated testing practices.
Understanding of software design principles and coding standards.
Exposure to Vue. js/Nuxt, Azure, CI/CD pipelines, messaging technologies, or microservices is beneficial
