Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and maintain robust, scalable Java applications.
- Write clean, efficient and maintainable code following best practices.
- Analyse complex technical challenges and deliver effective solutions.
- Contribute to the full software development lifecycle, from design through to testing and deployment.
- Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Improve application performance, reliability and scalability.
- Participate in code reviews and take ownership of technical deliverables.
Skills & Experience:
- At least five years of professional Java development experience; eight or more years would be advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of Java, object-oriented programming and software design principles.
- Experience developing and maintaining complex applications.
- Understanding of data structures, algorithms, databases and SQL.
- Familiarity with version control, automated testing and modern development practices.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical and communication skills.
- A proactive, collaborative approach and a strong desire to learn.
- Strong academic achievement, ideally excellent A-Level results and a degree from a highly regarded university. A first-class degree is preferred for less experienced candidates, while a 2:1 is acceptable for more experienced applicants.
- Developing scalable, high-performance or distributed applications.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, cloud technologies and containerisation.
