Job Description:

Summary: The SHEQ advisor is responsible for implementing and monitoring Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality standards across utility-scale Solar PV projects. This role ensures compliance with UK legislation, CDM Regulations, and company policies, while fostering a proactive positive safety culture whilst driving continuous improvement in quality and environmental performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety & Health

  • Develop and implement site-specific SHEQ plans aligned with UK HSE legislation and CDM Regulations and Intec’s management system.
  • Review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
  • Generate and deliver toolbox talks.
  • Consult, collaborate and communicate with all site stakeholders.
  • Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, prepare reports, and implement corrective actions.

Environmental Management

  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and project-specific requirements.
  • Monitor waste management, pollution prevention, and sustainability initiatives.

Quality Assurance

  • Implement quality control procedures for construction and commissioning activities.
  • Review and monitor Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and ensure adherence to project specifications.
  • Support internal and external audits and maintain accurate documentation.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Maintain SHEQ records and prepare reports for internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure timely submission of statutory documentation.

Training & Culture

  • Deliver SHEQ inductions and training sessions for site personnel.
  • Promote a positive safety culture and continuous improvement mindset across the site.

Skills & Qualifications

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent (essential).
  • Temporary works coordinator or supervisor.
  • Site Environmental Awareness Training (SEATS).
  • Mental Health First Aider (MHFA)
  • Experience in SHEQ roles within renewable energy projects (Solar/BESS).
  • Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation, CDM Regulations, and ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001).
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • IT proficiency; comfortable with SHEQ reporting software, PowerPoint & excel.
  • Ability to work under pressure and be proactive.
  • Travel to project sites as required.
  • A passion for sustainability and environmental solutions.
  • Candidate must have the right to work in the UK without restrictions.
  • Be an ambassador for the company and its values.
