We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer for a contract position to oversee the electrical installations and commissioning of a 50MW ground-mounted Solar PV project in the UK. The role involves ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant execution of electrical works, from MV/LV cabling and inverters to grid interconnection and system handover. This is a hands-on position requiring strong technical expertise in renewable energy electrical systems, with a focus on quality control, risk management, and collaboration with EPC contractors.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate electrical installation of the 50MW ground-mounted PV plant, including array cabling, inverters, transformers, MV/LV switchgear, grounding, and associated infrastructure.

- Review and support protection and control systems, including relay settings, CT/VT circuits, metering, protection schemes, and energisation testing for grid compliance.
- Oversee quality assurance and inspections of MV/LV equipment, cable terminations, protection schemes, and commissioning activities.
- Manage electrical commissioning documentation, including inspection and test reports, red-line drawings, snagging lists, and handover packages.
- Coordinate with DNOs, EPC contractors, OEMs, and consultants to resolve technical issues and ensure smooth commissioning and project handover.
- Monitor site progress, identify risks (e.g., electrical faults, weather impacts), and implement mitigation measures to support on-time project delivery.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, including CDM requirements and safe electrical practices (LOTO, isolations, permits, and switching coordination).
- Support post-commissioning performance monitoring and optimisation of the PV system.
- Proven experience (5-7+ years) managing large on-site construction projects.
- Experienced in large utility-scale solar or renewable energy projects.
- Understanding of civil and electrical works for solar farms, substations, or BESS.
