We are seeking an experienced Engineering Site Supervisor with a mechanical background and strong civil knowledge to support the delivery of a 50MW ground-mounted solar PV project in the UK. The role will focus on supervising mechanical and civil installation activities on site, ensuring that works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with design specifications and project schedules. The position will play a key role during the construction phase up to module installation.
Key Responsibilities:- Supervise mechanical and civil works across the solar PV site, including piling, foundations, mounting structures, tracker systems, roads, drainage, and associated infrastructure.
- Ensure all installations are carried out in accordance with engineering drawings, design specifications, quality standards, and project requirements.
- Coordinate with site management, engineering teams, and subcontractors to ensure construction activities progress in line with the project programme.
- Monitor ground conditions and site constraints, identifying issues affecting piling, access roads, drainage, and structural installations, and support practical mitigation measures.
- Review constructability against geotechnical conditions and manage local adjustments where site conditions differ from design documentation.
- Escalate technical or construction issues such as piling refusal, misalignment, soft ground, standing water, or access limitations to the project engineering or management team.
- Supervise setting out, installation tolerances, and as-built verification for piles, mounting structures, tracker systems, and civil works to ensure compliance with design requirements.
- Oversee quality assurance processes including inspections, hold points, pile records, torque checks, alignment checks, and the close-out of non-conformances.
- Review and implement method statements and risk assessments (RAMS), ensuring all work complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Monitor site progress, productivity, and quality of works, contributing to daily and weekly planning and supporting recovery actions where delays occur.
- Coordinate the phased release of completed work fronts to downstream trades, ensuring areas are inspected and handed over in accordance with the construction sequence.
- Support temporary works planning, lifting operations, site logistics, and material readiness to maintain safe and efficient installation progress.
- Participate in site coordination meetings, inspections, and daily briefings while providing clear reporting on installation progress and site performance.
- Assist with snagging, red-line mark-ups, as-built documentation, and handover information for completed project areas.
- Proven experience (5-7+ years) managing large on-site construction projects.
- Experienced in large utility-scale solar or renewable energy projects.
- Understanding of civil and electrical works for solar farms, substations, or BESS.
- SMSTS, CSCS Black Card, and First Aid certification required.

- Strong leadership, coordination, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to manage multiple contractors and subcontractors under pressure.
- Ability to read technical drawings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, project reporting tools, and document management systems.
- Full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK.
- Willingness to be site-based, with possible travel to other locations.
- Experience working on projects with DNO interface and grid connection activities.
- IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
