We are seeking a Civil Design Lead to take ownership of civil engineering design across our renewable energy infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical foundation and a track record of delivering high-quality civil designs in complex, fast-paced environments. You'll collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure our solar PV and BESS projects are designed for performance, compliance, and constructability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Leadership: Lead the civil design process for utility-scale renewable energy infrastructure projects (PV and BESS) from initial concept through to final construction delivery.
- Engineering Development: Develop comprehensive civil components, including site layouts and massing plans, grading and earthworks plans, access roads and internal transport routes, and detailed drainage systems (including SUDS).
- Assessment & Feasibility: Conduct site assessments, due diligence, and feasibility studies to effectively inform and validate all design decisions.
- Documentation & Review: Prepare, review, and approve all engineering drawings, technical specifications, and supporting documentation for civil works.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure all designs fully comply with relevant UK planning regulations, environmental standards, and health & safety (CDM) requirements.
- Interdisciplinary Coordination: Actively coordinate and integrate designs with geotechnical, electrical, and construction teams to ensure constructability and design harmony.
- Construction Support: Provide technical support throughout the construction phase, including site inspections, issue resolution, and responding to RFIs.
- Risk Management: Contribute to project risk assessments and develop effective mitigation strategies specifically related to civil engineering works.
- Permitting & Planning: Support planning and permitting processes by preparing required documentation and responding to technical queries from regulatory bodies.
- Continuous Improvement: Champion the continuous improvement of civil design standards, engineering tools, and project workflows within the team.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution (preferred).
- Professional accreditation (e.g., Chartered Engineer or working towards it) is preferred.
- Proven experience in civil design within infrastructure or renewable energy projects.
- Strong understanding of UK planning regulations, environmental guidelines, and construction standards.
- Proficiency in civil design software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, or similar).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver under tight deadlines.
- A proactive mindset with attention to detail and quality.

- Must have the right to work in the UK without restrictions.
