PMO Project Portfolio Coordinator Cardiff | Hybrid working £35,000 - £42,000 12-month fixed-term contract | Potential to extend or become permanent Make an impact across a growing project portfolio Are you highly organised, proactive and great at keeping multiple projects moving in the right direction? We’re looking for a PMO Project Portfolio Coordinator to join a growing, purpose-led technology organisation in Cardiff. You’ll play a key role in bringing together a portfolio of around seven live projects, ensuring senior leaders have clear, accurate information to make decisions and that actions, risks and dependencies don’t fall through the gaps. This isn’t a Project Manager role. Individual projects will continue to be owned and delivered by their respective Project Owners, Project Managers and Sponsors. Your role is to provide the coordination, visibility and structure that keeps the overall portfolio joined up and running effectively. The position is initially a 12-month fixed-term contract, with the potential for an extension or permanent opportunity. What you’ll be doing Working closely with the Operations Director, Project Managers, Project Owners and senior leadership team, you’ll: Coordinate and track progress across approximately seven live projects Maintain a clear view of project status, milestones, actions and priorities Follow up with Project Owners and Managers to make sure updates and actions are completed Prepare agendas, reports and papers for the Project Portfolio Board Review Project Initiation Documents for completeness and readiness before they reach the Board Identify and flag risks, issues and dependencies across projects Ensure information in Jira is accurate, consistent and up to date Help create reliable portfolio reporting for senior leaders Support the PMO framework established by the Operations Director and ensure agreed processes are followed Build strong relationships across technical and non-technical teams What we’re looking for You don’t necessarily need to have been a Project Manager. What matters is that you know how to bring structure, pace and organisation to a busy project environment. You’ll ideally have: Experience coordinating multiple projects simultaneously, or working within a PMO, programme office or project portfolio environment Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail Confidence preparing reports and information for senior stakeholders The ability to follow up with busy senior colleagues in a professional, diplomatic and persistent way Good experience using Jira Confidence working across both technical and non-technical teams A proactive approach and the ability to spot where something needs attention before it becomes a problem Above all, we’re looking for someone who takes ownership. You’ll be the person who knows where things are, what’s outstanding and what needs to happen next. Why join? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a tech-for-good organisation making a genuine social impact, helping deliver education to students in underprivileged communities across Africa. As a small and growing team, no two days are exactly the same. There’s plenty of variety and scope to get involved, making this a great environment for someone who enjoys having broad responsibilities rather than being pigeon-holed into a narrow role. Having worked with the company for the past six years, we’ve seen first-hand the supportive and nurturing culture they’ve built, with approachable, down-to-earth senior leadership and a collaborative way of working. Interested? If you’re an organised, proactive project professional who enjoys bringing clarity and structure to multiple moving parts, we’d love to hear from you.
