A leading research and technology organisation in Newport is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing R&D team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting‑edge technologies within a hands‑on, innovative environment. You’ll take designs from concept through to prototype, working hands‑on with complex designs or innovative solutions.
What You’ll Be Doing
- 3D/2D design and drafting of components and assemblies
- Concept development and design documentation
- Supplier liaison and component sourcing
- Prototype assembly, testing and validation
Essential Skills & Experience
- BEng/MEng in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Recent experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer
- Strong SolidWorks skills (modelling, drawings, simulation)
- Experience with high‑speed rotating assemblies
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, tolerances and manufacturing processes
- Ability to take designs from specification to tested prototype
