A leading research and technology organisation in Newport is looking for a Power Electronics Engineer to join their growing R&D team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting‑edge technologies within a hands‑on, innovative environment.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Designing and developing power electronics hardware and software
  • Circuit design, simulation, modelling and prototyping
  • Schematic capture, PCB layout and documentation
  • Testing, validation and fault investigation (including FMEA)
  • Working with suppliers and supporting full product lifecycle development

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong background in power electronics (essential)
  • Industry experience in design, development and testing
  • Schematic capture & PCB layout skills
  • C/C++ programming
  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline

Desirable:

  • MSc/PhD
  • Chartered status
  • Automotive or safety‑critical experience (e.g., ISO 26262)
  • Broader analogue/digital/thermal/EMI design exposure
